Man still critical after getting shot during Fayetteville break-in

A man who was shot four times while allegedly breaking into a Fayetteville home remains in critical condition, Lt. Mike Whitlow announced Monday.

Jordan J. Collinsworth, 21, is still in Grady Memorial Hospital. He was shot by the son of property owner on Wind Ridge Drive Thursday. Police are still investigating the case, Whitlow said.

Last week, police did not describe the shooting as the outcome of a home invasion because they had not determined the motive behind the break-in and the relationship between Collinsworth and the son remained unclear, Whitlow said.

The son, whose identity police have not released, told police he saw Collinsworth standing in his garage with a gun and trying to break into his house. The son then fetched a handgun when he said he heard heard Collinsworth breaking in through the back door; the son shot Collinsworth when he saw him in the house, Whitlow said.
