A Douglas County man who pleaded guilty to child molestation received a 35-year prison sentence, officials said Friday.

Steven Bailey admitted he molested four boys for 14 years between 2001 and 2014, according to a news release from the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office.

The boys he abused were children of a family member and a friend, the DA’s office said.

“To the family, there is no amount of prison time sufficient for what (Bailey) did,” Assistant District Attorney Bonnie Smith, who prosecuted the case, said.

One of Bailey’s victims came forward as an adult and told Douglas County investigators what happened when he was a child. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation and learned four victims under the age of 16 years old.

“The victims can finally gain closure and move forward in the healing process,” Smith said, “and the victims and their families are thankful for that.”
