After two and a half months, the search for suspects in a series of automobile break-ins ended with the arrest of one Woodstock man, officials say.

Johnny Lee Cowart, 26, has been charged with 33 counts of entering auto, 1 count of burglary, 25 counts of credit card theft, 10 counts of credit card fraud and 2 counts of attempted credit card fraud.

Oh, and he was already on probation, so he’s now charged with violating his probation.

Cherokee County sheriff’s detectives said Friday the cars hit earlier this year were all in neighborhoods along Arnold Mill Road in Woodstock.

Cowart entered vehicles belonging to at least 29 different people and stole firearms, purses, credits cards, tools and wallets, Lt. Jay Baker, a spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, said in a press release.

Deputies accused Cowart of using the stolen credit cards at local businesses and online.

When detectives executed a search warrant at Cowart’s Woodstock home, detectives found stolen property, including a stolen firearm, Baker said.

Cowart remained in custody Friday at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center without bond.
