Police are investigating a fatal shooting after a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of a car parked outside a southwest Atlanta apartment complex.

About 11 p.m. Monday, police learned the man had been shot outside the Summerdale Commons in the 2700 block of Old Hapeville Road, Atlanta police Officer Kim Jones said.

When officers arrived, they found him in a Honda Accord riddled with bullets.

“The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body,” Jones said.

He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office identified the man as Darryl Gibson, 31, of Augusta.

“We don’t have any suspects identified or the motive at this time,” Atlanta police Capt. Celeste Murphy said.

The investigation is ongoing.
