A Columbus father is facing vehicular homicide and DUI charges after the SUV he was driving went off the road, struck a tree and overturned Monday morning, killing two of his sons.

Christopher Farrell, 32, is also charged with three counts of endangering a child under 14 while driving under the influence, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and driving too fast for conditions, the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reported.

The crash killed Richard Farrell, 8, and John Farrell, 7. Christopher Farrell and his 4-year-old were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Ledger-Enquirer reported. The child was listed in satisfactory condition Tuesday, Columbus Regional spokeswoman Jessica Word told the paper. The father has been released from the hospital.

A family friend who was also a passenger in the Nissan Rogue was treated at the scene and released.
