An Alabama man facing charges including hit-and-run and first-degree vehicular homicide in the death of a motorcyclist in Douglasville on Sunday has been denied bond, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Jason Wooten, 29, of Munford, Ala., who remains in the Douglas County jail, will return to court Thursday, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Wooten appeared in Douglas County Magistrate Court on Monday, where he was denied bond, Channel 2 reported.

Steven Rose, 29, of Powder Springs, died after an Infiniti G37 struck the rear of his Yamaha motorcycle on I-20 westbound near the Fairburn Road exit early Sunday morning, according to a post on the Douglasville Police Department's Facebook page.

Rose was riding with his wife when the Infiniti hit their motorcycle without stopping about 3:20 a.m., police said. Rose was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Douglas County coroner’s office.

Rose and his wife, who was not immediately identified, were thrown off the bike. She was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, where authorities said she was in stable condition.

Police said the Infiniti was located at I-20 westbound before Highway 5 after the driver, who later was identified as Wooten, left it in an emergency lane. Wooten was arrested near Arbor Place Mall.

Douglasville police said on Facebook that, “Speed and driver impairment do appear to be factors in the accident.”
