A Woodstock man was arrested last week after hitting his 3-month-old boy in the face, causing five bones to fracture and an eye to hemorrhage among other injuries, authorities said.
Evan Hunter Clark, 22, is accused of not telling the child’s mother after injuring the child on four occasions in May and June, according to Cobb County arrest warrants.
In early May, he allegedly squeezed the child’s torso to help the infant digest food, but he unknowingly fractured one of the child’s ribs, the warrants said.
On May 22, Clark took the boy, who had a bruised head and bleeding eye, to a doctor, and he said the baby must of hit his head on a bottle while in his crib, the warrants said. The doctor examined the baby’s head, missing the injured rib.
On July 2, the child’s mother took the boy to a hospital in Oakland, Cal., and extensive X-rays found five healing fractures, the warrants said. The child had a fractured right tibia, right fibula, right radius and right ulna in addition to the injured rib.
When confronted about the child’s injuries, Clark allegedly admitted to dropping the child while giving him a “piggyback” ride on his shoulder on May 21. He also admitted to “smacking” the child in the face while in a vehicle at a Kroger parking lot in Marietta in early June, which caused the child to bleed from both nostrils and have a bruise on his left eye, the warrants said.
Clark was arrested last Wednesday by Marietta police on one count of first-degree child cruelty and two counts of second-degree child cruelty, jail records show. Seven days later, he remained in jail on a $82,720.
