A 12-year-old boy allegedly kidnapped from his Hiram home by a family friend was found safe Thursday morning in north Georgia, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office said.
A Georgia State Trooper spotted the white Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Timothy Lee Wilson, on I-24 entering Tennessee, Cpl. Ashley Henson said. The Georgia trooper, with assistance from a Tennessee trooper, stopped the car and found the boy, who was in good condition, Henson said.
William Dorian Moxley was last seen late Wednesday at his Lake Swan Court home, according to police. Wilson, 33, a house guest in Moxley’s home, was also last seen Wednesday night.
Early Thursday, the two were reported missing, along with the family’s car, the four-door Cobalt.
“At this point, we do not have any reason to believe that Wilson would harm Moxley,” Henson said in an emailed statement early Thursday. “However, we are treating this very seriously because Wilson did not have permission to take Moxley anywhere.”
Wilson was recently released from jail in Tennessee and sometimes uses the alias name “Lee Jacks”, deputies said. The GBI issued a statewide Levi’s Alert to help locate the boy.
After the pair was located, Paulding detectives drove to Tennessee to continue the investigation, Henson said. The FBI and U.S. Marshals Service were assisting with the investigation.
The boy was expected to be reunited with his family, Henson said.
A Tennessee state trooper arrested Wilson without incident and he was transported to the Marion County jail, a Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesman said. There was no immediate word on the charges.
This case remains under investigation.
