A motorcyclist from Powder Springs was killed in Austell on Wednesday morning when another driver turned in front of his bike’s path, Cobb County police said.

The wreck occurred shortly after 7 a.m. at the intersection of Maxham and Old Alabama roads, Cobb police spokeswoman Officer Sydney Melton said.

The biker, identified by police as 35-year-old Jeffrey L. Everett, was riding a white Yamaha YZF-R6 north on Maxham Road when a silver Nissan Maxima making a left onto Old Alabama pulled out in front of him, Melton said. The vehicles collided in the intersection.

Everett was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Maxima was identified by police as 46-year-old Austell resident Fredericka C. Washington. It’s unclear whether she will be charged.

The wreck remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Cobb police at 770-499-3987.
