Gwinnett County police are looking for clues in a hit-and-run that left a Smyrna woman badly injured Monday night.

The collision happened just before midnight on Holcomb Bridge Road near Crooked Creek Road in Peachtree Corners. Police said 28-year-old Maliqua Johnson was crossing the road outside a crosswalk when she was hit by a vehicle traveling south.

The driver, believed to be in a newer-model red Hyundai Sonata, left the scene without helping the woman or calling 911, police said.

Johnson was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Based on debris left in the road, investigators believe the red sedan has damage to its front bumper, hood, windshield and mirror. Police also think the car may be a Sonata from 2016.

A cash reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact Gwinnett police at 678-442-5653 or PDAccidentInvestigationUnit@gwinnettcounty.com.
