The parents of a 4-month-old boy have been arrested on numerous charges after their child arrived at a local hospital with multiple broken bones, police said.

Deputies were called to Children’s Hospital of Atlanta on March 28 after hospital personnel reported the infant’s injuries, the Barrow County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

Upon their arrival, it was determined the boy sustained the injuries as a result of parental abuse, police said.

The child’s parents, identified by police as Louis Coleman Sr. and Seleta Basinger, were arrested.

Coleman was taken into custody March 28 on 34 charges, including 26 counts of aggravated battery, one count of criminal attempt to commit murder, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of battery and four counts of first-degree cruelty to children, police said.

Basinger was arrested the following day and charged with four counts of first-degree cruelty to children.

Police say their investigation is ongoing and that additional details will be released as it becomes available.
