A Riverdale police officer was fired following his arrest Tuesday for allegedly raping a woman he was taking to jail.

James Larry Robinson Jr. was charged with sexual assault against a person in custody and rape after Riverdale police asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to look into the woman’s accusations, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Rather than take the woman straight to jail, Robinson allegedly pulled up to an empty building near a custom tire shop last month along Tara Boulevard and sexually assaulted her, the news station reported.

Employees at the shop said the woman came by when she was released from jail and asked if they had security cameras.

Robinson is being held in the Clayton County Jail without bond.
