A Fulton County jury convicted a 31-year-old man of raping an 8-year-old girl, District Attorney Paul Howard announced Friday.
The verdict, however, was a few weeks ago. David Ramsey was convicted of rape and child molestation June 12, according to the district attorney’s news release.
Ramsey was dating the girl’s mother in 2009 when he began sexually assaulting the child in Hapeville, and the abuse continued for three years until the girl was 11, according to the release.
The victim disclosed the abuse in June 2012 after Ramsey was arrested on an unrelated charge. He was arrested on rape and molestation charges after an extensive investigation, the DA’s office said.
Senior Superior Court Judge Grant Brantley sentenced Ramsey to two consecutive life terms.
