A driver accused of running down a bicyclist during a bout of road rage is expected to plead guilty Tuesday, the Fulton County district attorney announced.

Joseph Alan Lewis of Atlanta, who was 19 at the time of the June 2014 crash, seriously injured the then-50-year-old Gregory Germani with his Dodge Nitro and then sped away, police said at the time.

Witnesses said Germani and Lewis got into an argument at the intersection of Montgomery Ferry Road and Flagler Avenue moments before Germani was hit.

Germani rode away on his bicycle after the dispute, and Lewis is accused of ramming the rear of the bicycle with his SUV, and dragging Germani nearly 50 feet, the DA's office said. Lewis turned himself in to police nearly a month later after he was identified as a suspect. A surveillance video captured the crash.

Germani had serious neck and torso injuries, and he was in intensive care for several weeks with brain trauma at Grady Memorial Hospital. He is still undergoing rehabilitative treatment, according to the DA.

Germani had ridden his bike to work at Turner Broadcasting System every day for more than 20 years, according to family members.

Lewis was indicted on multiple charges, including criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, serious injury by vehicle, hit and run, criminal damage to property in the first degree, tampering with evidence, reckless driving, failure to report an accident, expired or no license on person, and driving with an expired or no license plate or decal.
