A Fulton County Schools paraprofessional was arrested Thursday at a Sandy Springs elementary school on child porn charges and immediately fired by the district, authorities said.
Adam Nesbitt, who worked at Woodland Elementary School, was one of two people charged after a crackdown involving 14 officers from six agencies, including Sandy Springs police, the Polk County Police Department said in a Facebook post.
That agency coordinated the operation that resulted in Nesbitt’s arrest. The federal Department of Homeland Security also was involved.
“We are working with Polk County and Sandy Springs police to understand the nature of these charges,” Fulton County School said Friday in an emailed statement to AJC.com. “Currently, we are not aware of any allegations involving our students.”
No other information was released on Nesbitt, 40, of Rockmart.
The other person arrested was identified as Mike Andrews, 53, of Cedartown.
Both men were charged with using a minor to engage in or assist a person in sexually explicit conduct for a visual medium. Nesbitt is facing three counts, Andrews two.
The crackdown, described as “proactive,” focused on “persons who possess and distribute child pornography and those who are sexually exploiting children in other ways using technology and the internet,” the post read.
Four search warrants were executed and one knock-and-talk warrant was conducted in Polk County.
“During those search warrants and knock and talks, numerous digital devices were previewed and two digital devices were seized,” police said. “Of those devices seized, one was a mobile phone and one was a laptop computer.”
