Two former DeKalb County detention officers were arrested Thursday on misconduct charges, the sheriff’s office said.

Shanik Bishop, 26, and Nardia P.K. Reynolds, 30, were taken into custody at their homes without incident on charges related to their improper relationships with inmates.

Bishop, who worked for the jail about six months, allegedly gave an inmate marijuana.

Reynolds is accused of having a sexual relationship with someone in custody. She had worked at the jail for two years before being fired, DeKalb County Sheriff Jeffrey Mann said.

Mann said detention workers who take advantage of their positions are held to the same standards as anyone else who would commit a crime in the county.

“We have no tolerance for anyone who violates the law,” Mann said.

During preliminary hearings Thursday, Bishop was granted two $5,000 bonds for violating her oath as a public officer.

Reynolds was granted a $7,500 bond and a $2,500 bond for felony violation of oath by a public officer and sexual assault against a person in custody, respectively.
