A frantic father waved down a Clayton County police officer after a car struck his 7-year-old stepdaughter and drove off, police said.

The man and girl were trying to cross Riverdale Road just south of Walker Road about 6:18 p.m. Saturday, police spokeswoman Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said.

Emergency service workers said the girl broke her arm and was taken to a local hospital. Her injuries were considered non-life-threatening.

The father told police the driver was in a red Mazda that exited the Meadow View Apartments at 6030 Riverdale Road, Marbury said.

Anyone with information should call the Clayton County police tip line at 770-477-3513.
