The driver charged in connection with a crash that killed a University of Georgia graduate student earlier this week has two previous DUI arrests this year, according to the Athens-Banner Herald.

Whitney Baker Howard, 31, of Hull, was charged with DUI in June and August, according to the report. Because DUI is a misdemeanor in Georgia, judges in those cases had to grant bond to Howard, according to a video report.

Howard is facing DUI drugs, vehicular homicide and other charges after the incident Monday that killed Ashley Block, 25, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. Howard's SUV crossed the center line and struck three cyclists, police said.

Howard was believed to be under the influence of prescription medication at the time of the fatal crash, police said. She was denied bond Wednesday.

Block, a Minnesota native who was a Ph.D. student in anthropology, died at the scene. A memorial service was held Thursday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Athens.

Another cyclist, Mitchell Eric Enfinger, underwent surgery for a lacerated spleen, according to a GoFundMe page that was set up to help cover medical expenses. The page had raised $10,896 as of Thursday afternoon.

The other member of the group was treated and released at a hospital.
