Montgomery, along with Lakoaia Johnson, planned to rob Rogers in October 2017, AJC.com previously reported. Johnson lured him to the South Hairston Road area with the promise of buying cellphones from him.

When they arrived, Rogers saw a group of men waiting in the cul-de-sac, and he quickly exited Johnson’s car, the DA’s office said. Montgomery then pulled out a gun and shot at Rogers four times, fatally hitting him as he tried to reach for his own weapon.

Johnson negotiated a guilty plea for aggravated assault on the condition that she testified against Montgomery, DeKalb County court records show. She was sentenced to 15 years in prison, which will be followed by five years of probation.
