DeKalb County police say a 7-year-old girl is now safe after her father reportedly broke into an apartment, assaulted his ex-girlfriend and kidnapped the girl.
The girl, Ramatoulaye Barry, was recovered “safe and unharmed” in Lexington, Ky., DeKalb County police said late Saturday. Her father, Amadou Barry, and one other suspect are in custody, they said.
Police say Amadou Barry, 29, climbed up to a second story window early Saturday morning to enter the apartment of his ex-girlfriend at the Covington Glen Apartments on Covington Highway. Once inside, he held her and her current boyfriend at gunpoint, police say.
Barry assaulted his ex-girlfriend leaving her unconscious, police say, and then fled with his young daughter.
