Police are searching for a rape suspect accused of attacking a 27-year-old woman Sunday in her DeKalb County apartment complex.

Police released a sketch of the suspect and asked the public to tell them any information that could help them find the man.

The victim, who asked not to be identified, told Channel 2 Action News Wednesday she thinks the man followed her home from a nearby gas station, where she stopped before driving to a parking garage at her home, Atlas LaVista Hills apartments on Parklake Drive.

She parked her car in the garage and the man came up behind her, put his hand over her mouth and pulled out a gun, she said.

“He pulled out a gun from here and pointed it at my head and told me to give him all my money,” she said.

The man took her money, keys and phone and forced his way into her car, telling her not to look at him, the victim said.

He drove her to a nearby parking lot, which was empty at the time, and raped her, she said.

“He forced himself on me and had the gun to me the whole time,” the victim said.

She said she didn’t scream for help because she was worried for her life.

The suspect eventually took off, and the victim called police, according to Channel 2.

Police are expected to release apartment surveillance video showing the suspect Thursday.

The apartment complex sent a letter to residents about the incident. It urges people with any information that could help to call DeKalb County police.

The victim told Channel 2 she thought she was safe in her secured garage but the suspect ran and slid under the gate in her parking deck.

“He’s a sick individual,” she said. “I thank God I’m OK to tell my story, and I want everyone to be warned.”
