Kennesaw police have arrested a man they believe is connected to two armed robberies at Shell gas stations.

Damarius Javon Becoats was charged with armed robbery, battery, false imprisonment and criminal damage to property in relation to the latest robbery that occurred Aug. 31 at the station at 4240 Jiles Road.

According to the clerk working the counter at the time, the suspect came from behind him and put something to his back, igniting a fight.

“The suspect eventually ran from the scene empty handed,” police Officer Scott Luther said in a news release.

Police said evidence linked Becoats to an earlier robbery at the Shell location at 3338 Cherokee Street on Aug. 5. He has been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and theft by taking in connection with that incident. No further details were released.

Becoats was arrested Tuesday with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.
