An Alpharetta driver faces multiple charges after allegedly losing his cool and sucker-punching another driver in the face — with his children watching.

Austin David Cape is accused of punching Jonathan Rucks on Sunday along Old Milton Parkway, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Rucks told Channel 2 that Cape drove in front of him and slammed on his brakes, starting the situation.

“A gray Jetta pulled up, speeding, and went right past me,” Rucks said. “(He) pulled in front of me, slamming on (his) brakes.”

Cape is then accused of trying to run Rucks off the road before they stopped at the intersection with North Point Parkway, the news station reported.

“I just rolled down the window and asked him what his problem was,” Rucks said. “He said I was a poor driver — not so poetically — but that’s what his words were.”

The situation turned violent when Cape allegedly kicked the door of Rucks’ vehicle, leaving a large dent, Channel 2 reported. Cape then allegedly punched Rucks in the face before driving away.

Rucks remembered the tag of his alleged attacker, allowing police to find and arrest Cape the next day, the news station reported.

“He showed up with children in the vehicle and basically told officers he lost control,” Rucks said.

Cape was charged with misdemeanor battery, criminal trespass and third-degree child cruelty, which investigators told the news station was because his kids witnessed the attack. Cape hasn’t responded to Channel 2’s request for comment.

He was released from the Fulton County jail Monday on a $7,000 bond, according to jail records.
