Reports of clown sightings continue in Georgia, with two instances involving children at school bus stops, according to media reports.
In Macon, a mother called 911 on Tuesday after her children reportedly were chased away from a bus stop by people dressed as clowns, the Telegraph of Macon reported.
The children ran home and said they’d been chased by clowns who had fake knives and flashlights, Bibb County sheriff’s Cpl. Linda Howard told the paper. The children said the clowns came from abandoned houses and bushes.
Also, some of the children said they had received friend requests on Facebook from people dressed as clowns, according to the report.
In McDuffie County, a caller to the sheriff's office reported a clown chasing children from a school bus stop, the Augusta Chronicle reported. McDuffie County is about 120 miles east of Atlanta.
In Augusta, the Richmond County Sheriff's Office received reports Wednesday of a man wearing a clown mask and dressed as a woman firing a gun, the Augusta Chronicle reported.
In Georgia, it’s illegal to wear a mask, hood or any other device that conceals the person’s identity while in public or on private property without the owner’s permission, the Chronicle reported.
Previously, similar sightings had been reported in LaGrange. Police there received "several calls about clowns in a van and in wooded areas trying to talk to children," the Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.
These incidents follow multiple clown sightings in the Carolinas and Wisconsin this summer.
