A Canton man has been charged with 50 counts of sexual exploitation of children after authorities searched his home and computers, Cherokee County sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said Friday.

Dwight Watson, 43, was arrested Wednesday after a two-month investigation, Baker said.

Investigators for the sheriff’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit said Watson is one of the most active child porn consumers in Georgia, Baker said. Tens of thousands of “files of interest” containing images and videos were on Watson’s computers.

Watson is in custody at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center without bond, Baker said.
