Three robbery suspects were arrested Wednesday after they led Atlanta police on a high-speed chase and crashed into a tree.

Brandon Antoine Anderson, Emory Breynekia Hunter and Kareasha Washington are accused of using a gun to rob people walking or jogging with cellphones Tuesday, Atlanta police spokeswoman Elizabeth Espy said.

After the incidents, officers in the APD’s Video Integration Unit were on the lookout for a red Kia sedan believed to be used in the alleged crimes. When they spotted it on Hightower Road on Wednesday, they tried to stop the car they later said was stolen from Cobb County.

The Kia continued heading south, then west, before eventually crashing into a large tree in south Fulton County, Espy said.

While the driver was slumped over, floating in and out of consciousness, a passenger escaped through the sunroof and ran behind houses into the nearby wood line, Espy said.

Other officers later arrested the man found “out of breath and covered in fresh debris.”

Another passenger in the backseat appeared to be unharmed, police said.

While arresting the driver and passenger on the scene, officers found a firearm wedged against a foot board left of the driver’s seat.

Washington and Hunter face two counts of armed robbery in incidents that happened between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m in the 200 block of Blackland Road in northwest Atlanta and on Peachtree Battle Trail in Buckhead.

Anderson is the only suspect also facing a third count in an incident that happened Tuesday in the 900 block of Juniper Street in Midtown.
