More than 25 years after a Walton County man was killed, two men have been arrested in connection with his death, police said Friday.
Perry Brown, 59, and Jerry Jones, 66, both of Monroe, have been indicted for the Aug. 18, 1988 murder of Willie Joe Beasley, the Monroe Police Department said in a Facebook post.
Brown and Jones are in the Walton County jail without bond. Both are charged with felony murder and malice murder.
Beasley was murdered in his home at 523 1/2 North Broad Street, Monroe Police Chief Keith Glass said.
“Mr. Beasley’s life mattered to us,” Glass said. “Today I am very proud and appreciative of the work that has been done on this cold case.”
Detective Ricky Chambers was the lead investigator, Glass said. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Walton County District Attorney’s Office also were involved in the case.
