With her 8-year-old nephew in her pickup truck, a DeKalb County woman was shot during a would-be drug deal Monday night, police said.

The child was not injured and got out of the truck before it was stolen, police spokesman Maj. Stephen Fore said. The child never saw the shooting, which happened at an abandoned house in the 1100 block of Dantel Court.

Just after 6:30 p.m., two men in their 20s robbed the 43-year-old woman of cash, shot her and stole her truck, Fore said. A 28-year-old man who was with the woman ran from the scene after the incident, too.

None of the men have been found.

The woman was taken to Atlanta Medical Center with a gunshot wound to her leg, police said. The whereabouts of the child are not known.

The investigation is ongoing.
