Riverdale police investigators were on the scene of a shooting at a nightclub on Ga. 138 near Taylor Road on Monday morning.

A man was rushed to the hospital early Monday after a shooting at a Riverdale nightclub.

Officers responding to the 283 Ultra Lounge on Ga. 138 just before 2 a.m. found a man shot and lying in the parking lot, Riverdale police spokeswoman Capt. Nicole Rabel told AJC.com.

The victim was unresponsive and immediately taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, she said.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The GBI crime scene unit responded to the scene to process evidence.

Brandon Lester, the owner of 283 Ultra Lounge, said there was no altercation or disturbance inside the nightclub before the man was shot.

“Nothing actually happened inside,” he said from the scene Monday. “Whatever happened, happened right here in the parking lot.”

Lester said the shooting was an isolated incident for the lounge. He was discouraged by the violence.

“It makes me feel heartbroken because I put a lot of work and a lot of energy into my business and also standing strong for the city of Riverdale,” he said. “But, again, things can happen anywhere. My heart goes out to the family and I pray to God he's OK.”
