A driver was hurt after he hit a Morrow police patrol car and overturned, blocking all lanes of I-75 South for about an hour Wednesday night, authorities confirmed.

Around 10 p.m., officer Vincent Barfield, 29, was out of his patrol car to help a disabled vehicle on the interstate near Jonesboro Road, the Georgia State Patrol told AJC.com.

Another vehicle lost control and struck the rear of the patrol car, overturning as a result, the GSP said. The driver, 26-year-old Darius Pointer of Macon, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. He was charged with violating Georgia's Move Over Law.

Morrow Police Chief James Callaway confirmed that his officer was not injured during the incident, and neither was the stranded driver.

Around 11 p.m., the crash was cleared and the interstate reopened.
