A man died in a wreck involving a tractor-trailer and a minivan Tuesday afternoon in Fulton County, police confirmed to AJC.com.

The wreck happened on Fulton Industrial Boulevard at Tradewater Parkway, Fulton County police Lt. Scott McBride said.

Witnesses told Channel 2 Action News that the tractor-trailer was on Tradewater Parkway and was attempting to turn onto Fulton Industrial Boulevard to head north. However, it ended up stuck in the northbound lanes waiting for traffic to clear, which is when the minivan allegedly hit the side of the trailer, killing the van’s driver.

That driver was identified as Dwayne Burkholder, 48, by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday. It’s unclear where he most recently lived, but the office said he was from Georgia.

The truck driver, Richard Coates of Kansas, faces charges of second-degree vehicular homicide, failure to yield and obstruction of an intersection, Channel 2 reported.

All southbound lanes were blocked, causing heavy delays back toward Camp Creek Parkway during Tuesday’s evening commute, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
