Atlanta police are searching for man who fled on foot after the car he was driving struck and killed a cyclist.

The accident occurred a little before 1 a.m. Sunday in the 470 block of Cleveland Avenue in southwest Atlanta. It’s unknown whether the suspect owned the burgundy Monte Carlo, which was left in the parking lot of a nearby auto parts store.

A witness told Channel 2 Action News she saw the driver do “a 360” in the middle of the road before striking the cyclist, who was on the sidewalk at the time.

The driver then limped off into the woods, the witness told Channel 2.

An APD spokesman said the suspect remains at large.

Police released no details about the identity of the victim.
