A 42-year-old man with cerebral palsy who said he was forced out his wheelchair, punched and kicked as he left dinner last Friday in Midtown may have reported similar allegations over the last decade, Atlanta police said.

“We cannot confirm his allegations at this time,” Atlanta police Sgt. Warren Pickard said in a media statement.

About 10:10 p.m. Christopher Coleman was returning home from 10th & Piedmont restaurant when two unidentified men "came from behind him, pushed him out of his wheelchair and began to punch him in the chest several times causing visible bruising to the left side of his abdomen," Atlanta police said in an incident report. His shoes and jacket came off during the alleged attack, Coleman told police.

“It has been reported to APD that Mr. Coleman has reported the same and similar allegations to other metro police departments over the last decade,” Pickard said.

No one has been arrested in connection with the latest incident. And there were no security cameras in the area, according to the police report.

Coleman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment. He was released Saturday.
