Three people were arrested Sunday when hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Atlanta for the fourth night in a row to demonstrate against police-involved shootings in Louisiana and Minnesota, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said.

During a press conference Monday, Reed said protests have otherwise been peaceful. He asked protesters to think about officers, who have been working overnight to ensure public safety in the wake of an ambush during a demonstration in Dallas, Texas. Five officers were killed in that ambush.

Demonstrators who gathered around Centennial Park marched through traffic Sunday night, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

That followed a protest that Atlanta police said led to 11 arrests Saturday night, with 10 of the people charged with unlawfully remaining in the roadway and one charged with disorderly conduct.

Protesters said despite criticism that marches lack a clear purpose, they will not stop demonstrating until justice is served.

Local rallies are among several initiatives held throughout the nation to use political and economic means to change policing practices as they pertain to people of color.
