Gwinnett police have made an arrest in the hit-and-run death of a man who crashed his motorcycle and was still lying in the roadway when he was struck by another vehicle.
Scott Moseley, 24, was riding his motorcycle near Buford early July 26 when he attempted to make a left turn from Camp Branch Road onto Gravel Springs Road, according to Gwinnett police Cpl. Michele Pihera.
Moseley struck a raised median and was ejected from his motorcycle. An “unknown vehicle” hit Moseley as he was in the roadway “without stopping to render aid or contact police,” Pihera said at the time of the fatal hit-and-run.
Moseley, she said, “likely died as a result of being struck by the vehicle.”
Police located the suspect vehicle early Sunday in the parking lot of the Mall of Georgia, and the car was impounded, police said.
Investigators interviewed the car’s owner, 24-year-old Jacob O’Reilly, and arrested him at his home in Auburn Sunday afternoon. Gwinnett jail records show he is being held without bond, charged with vehicular homicide, hit-and-run and failure to yield.
