A military police officer at Fort Benning has been charged with murder after he allegedly shot and killed a friend following a disagreement over the use of a paintball gun, according to a media report.

Timothy Tarr is accused of fatally shooting Alcides Ruben Washington on May 24, The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reported. Washington was firing Tarr’s paintball gun while Tarr and others worked on a storage building, according to the report.

Witnesses testified Tarr and his wife became irritated with Washington for firing too many paintballs. Tarr demanded Washington stop, a police officer testified. When Washington did not stop, Tarr removed a .45 pistol from his holster, the officer said.

Tarr pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He is being held in the Muscogee County Jail without bond.
