Grady High School will remain on lockdown for the remainder of the day after a group of students saw someone with a gun walk into the Midtown campus.

The students said the armed suspect entered Grady about 1:30 p.m. Friday, then ran out the building, Atlanta Public Schools spokeswoman Jill Strickland Luse said in a statement.

“Law enforcement conducted a search of the building but did not locate the suspect, nor a handgun,” she said in the statement. “APD is now conducting a search in the nearby community.”

Though the school will remain on lockdown for the remainder of the school day, “all students remain safe and in classrooms,” Luse said.

Grady is in the 900 block of Charles Allen Drive.
