A woman died overnight after a car crashed into a MARTA bus stop in north Fulton County and struck three people waiting at the stop, Roswell police said Friday.

The latest victim, a woman whose name and age were not released, died at North Fulton Hospital, police spokeswoman Lisa Holland said.

About 5 p.m. Thursday, a motorist in her 60s swerved to avoid hitting the back of the bus, jumped the curb and plowed through the stop on the southbound side of Alpharetta Highway, police said.

A man who was just about to get on the bus died. Channel 2 Action News identified him as 55-year-old Curtis Freeman.

The surviving victim, identified by Channel 2 as El Feugo Solano, has worked for five years as a dishwasher at Adele's, a Cajun restaurant on Canton Street in Roswell.

“He is still in ICU, and we ask for your prayers,” executive chef Marc Wegman and his wife Ruth wrote Friday in a Facebook post.

A witness described the accident “like bowling.” The would-be MARTA passengers were thrown to either side.

Danilo Martinez said he was nearby when he heard the accident and local businesses lost power. As he arrived at the scene, an ambulance was taking two people away, Martinez said. One man being loaded into the ambulance said he couldn’t feel anything from his waist up, Martinez said.

The bus stop was crushed. Half the supports under the green, metal-roofed building were missing. Glass was shattered. And a metal bench was flattened. A black metal garbage can was knocked out of place, police said.

As of Friday afternoon, authorities had not filed charges against the driver.
