The second of two inmates who escaped from the Meriwether County Jail on April 12 was caught Sunday, jail officials said.

Eugene Lamar Mitchell, 34, who was being held on charges of incest, statutory rape, aggravated sexual battery, felony burglary, child molestation and aggravated child molestation when he escaped April 12, was captured in Greenville, officials said.

“We had received information that Mitchell may possibly be occupying an older model, white in color, Dodge Caravan,” Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith said. “Additional information was that Mitchell was reported to be at an apartment located off of Freeman Street.”

Mitchell was the second of two inmates who escaped from their cell block at about 7:30 p.m. April 12, Meriwether sheriff’s Chief Deputy Col. Byron Hadley said.

Travion Terrell Hall, 29, who was being held on a probation violation, was captured April 13 in a room at the Garden Inn & Suites in Hogansville, according to the Meriwether County Sheriff's Office.

The jail is located about 70 miles southwest of Atlanta.
