A man who Gwinnett County police said held up a Jimmy Carter Boulevard cell phone store while munching on a bag of chips last month is facing armed robbery and other charges in connection with the incident.

Following media coverage of the March 30 armed robbery of the Metro PCS store at 4650 Jimmy Carter Boulevard, investigators received several tips through Crime Stoppers about a possible suspect, Gwinnett police Cpl. Michele Pihera said Monday.

Those tips led detectives to charge Rondley Lemar Hamilton, 36, with armed robbery, aggravated assault and firearms charges in connection with the phone store robbery, Pihera said.

She said Hamilton, who is also suspected in several other robberies, was taken into custody at his mother’s home in DeKalb County, and is being held in the DeKalb jail on separate charges.

DeKalb police Capt. Stephen Fore said Hamilton is charged in that county with four counts of armed robbery and five counts of aggravated assault in connection with two Metro PCS and two dry cleaners robberies.
