Child molester gets life in prison for abusing 9-year-old
An Atlanta man was sentenced to life in prison, plus 64 years for molesting a 9-year-old girl in his care, the Fulton County District Attorney said Friday.
A jury convicted Rudolph Anthony Cash, 38, on charges of child molestation, aggravated child molestation, criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation, cruelty in the first degree and false imprisonment in connection with the crime, Fulton DA Paul Howard said.
The charges date back to June 2012, when Cash was babysitting the girl and her siblings, according to investigators.
“While in his care, Defendant Cash fondled the child and forced her to engage in various sex acts,” the DA’s office said in news release. “The defendant also held the child against her will on several occasions when she attempted to escape his abuse, which often occurred in a locked bathroom in the victim’s Atlanta apartment.”
The girl later moved out of state and told a relative about the abuse, the DA’s office said. That relative called the girl’s mother, who reported the allegations to police.
Cash was arrested on March 27, 2014, and booked into the Fulton County jail, records showed. He was released on bond in August and returned to jail after his conviction Thursday.
