Misao Okawa, the world’s oldest person at 117, died today in Osaka, Japan. She was the third person ever to reach 117, according to Guinness World Records.
Over the years, Okawa has credited her amazing longevity to, among other things, eating sushi and getting a good night’s sleep.
When Okawa celebrated her 117 birthday on March 4, Time.com compiled a list of longevity secrets from 13 other centenarians and super-centenarians. One loved pork — especially hog’s head cheese, another swore by sunbathing and yet another said staying away from men was her key to living longer than average.
