Car hits, critically injures woman on DeKalb sidewalk
A 30-year old woman was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle while she walked on a sidewalk in DeKalb County Wednesday morning.
The woman, who police have not identified, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition and was in surgery, said DeKalb police Capt. S.R. Fore Wednesday afternoon.
The driver of the vehicle, who has not been charged and who also was not identified, was headed west on Glenwood Road near Candler Road. The vehicle veered off the road to avoid hitting cars stopped ahead and ran up on the sidewalk, hitting the woman, Fore said.
DeKalb police traffic specialists continue to investigate the accident. Fore said charges are forthcoming.
