Buchanan man dies in house fire

A Buchanan man became the state’s fourth fire fatality of 2015 when he died in a fire at his house on Gun Club Road about 5 a.m. Saturday.

Phillip James Vines, 58, was home alone at the time of the fire, which is of undetermined origin, according to Georgia Insurance and Safety Commissioner Ralph Hudgens.

“Because of extensive damage to the area of origin, my fire investigators were unable to make an exact determination of the cause,” Hudgens said in a press release. “The fire does not appear suspicious.”
