An 83-year-old Tennessee woman was killed in a head-on crash in Hall County, the Georgia State Patrol said.
The wreck occurred about 4:30 p.m. Friday on Limestone Parkway in Gainesville, which is near the rear entrance of the Kroger shopping center on Huntington Drive.
A 2009 Nissan Rogue driven by Shirley Ellison was traveling north on Limestone Parkway at the same time a southbound 2014 Toyota Corolla driven by Laura Webber was preparing to turn left onto Huntington Drive.
“For unknown reasons, the Nissan Rogue failed to stay in its lane, crossed the median and struck the Toyota Corolla head-on,” the GSP said.
Both drivers were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Ellison of Puryear, Tenn., was pronounced dead at the hospital. Webber, 28, of Gainesville, had injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Ellison is believed to be the at-fault driver, according to authorities.
“There will be no charges,” the GSP said.
