An 82-year-old man confined to a hospital bed was killed Tuesday in a fire in South Georgia, the state fire marshal’s office said.

The fire broke out about 2:45 p.m. at a home in the 3800 block of Drewery Road in Camilla, officials said. That’s about 207 miles south of downtown Atlanta in Mitchell County.

Due to the extensive damage caused by the blaze, the exact origin and cause of the fire that killed Roy Williams was ruled undetermined, office spokesman Glenn Allen said Wednesday in a statement.

The results of a GBI autopsy revealed Williams died from smoke inhalation, according to Allen.
