Investigators have identified a man believed responsible for a shooting that killed a 15-year-old in Union City, police said Thursday.

Muhammad Awad Hassan, 19, has not yet been located, according to police. Hassan has been charged with party to the crime of murder in the death of Amira Isis Cameron, Union City police said.

Cameron, a sophomore at Langston Hughes High School, was shot Sunday night at the Oakley Shoals apartments. Family and friends planned a vigil at the apartments Thursday evening.

Cameron’s family said she was hanging out with friends and was not the intended target. Her mother told Channel 2 Action News it was a senseless act.

“I have a 15-year-old I’m getting ready to bury that was loved by all,” Delabia Cameron said. “And I gotta figure out how I’m going to live.”

Visitation for Cameron will be held all day Friday at Gus Thornhill’s Funeral Home in East Point. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church in Atlanta.

Anyone with information on Hassan’s whereabouts is asked to contact police at 770-964-1333.

Cameron was the first of two 15-year-olds killed in two days in Union City, though the shootings were not related.

Monday afternoon, Benson West was shot in the chest and killed at the Landings at Oak Hill apartments. A second teenager, Ja’Quan Perry, was arrested and charged in connection with the shooting, police said. Perry, 17, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, possession of a firearm during a crime and reckless conduct.
