A 29-year-old Cherokee County man was arrested Friday for an alleged road rage shooting, according to Woodstock police.

Matthew Kennedy has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated battery following the Thursday night incident, police said. Kennedy of Woodstock was booked Friday afternoon into the Cherokee County jail, where he was being held on $38,400 bond, the Sheriff’s Office said.

At 9:25 p.m. Thursday night, a man said he was driving away from the RaceTrac station on Ridgewalk Parkway, across from The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta, with his teenage son when he noticed someone following closely behind him. When the man then pulled over on the northbound ramp of I-575, the vehicle pulled up next to him and someone inside fired a shot and drove away, according to police.

The injured man, who was shot in the arm, continued northbound on I-575 to Exit 20, where he called 911. He was treated an released from a local hospital. His son was not injured.
