Five people were shot and hospitalized after a shootout Saturday evening near apartments in west Atlanta.

All of the victims are expected to survive, and at least one has already been released from the hospital, said Officer Ralph Woolfolk of the Atlanta Police Department.

The shootings occurred near Delmar Villa Apartments, which are located close to the intersection of I-285 and I-20 off Delmar Lane.

On-site security called 911, and officers found the victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds when they arrived, Woolfolk said.

Two of the victims ran to nearby complexes before collapsing, police told Channel 2 Action News.

Neighbors told Channel 2 said they heard as many as 50 shots.

Sudie Dorsey said she was in bed when bullets pierced the side of her home.

“I was scared to get out from under the covers myself,” Dorsey said.

The police investigation into the shooting is continuing, Woolfolk said.
