A tree knocked down power lines and damaged several cars in Vinings on Tuesday afternoon.

A tree knocked down power lines and fell on several vehicles in Cobb County, sending one person to the hospital Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The incident happened about 5:30 p.m. on Woodland Brook Drive near Bakers Farm Road in Vinings, Cobb County Fire Capt. Joseph Bryant told Channel 2 Action News. The injured person’s condition is unknown.

It’s also unclear how many vehicles were damaged when the tree fell.

According to Georgia Power, more than 250 customers are affected by the downed power lines, and power is expected to be restored overnight.

Cobb police closed the road, so crews could work to cut up and the tree and remove it, Channel 2 reported. Police did not provide an estimated time for the road to reopen.
